CubeIP - Port Forwarding
This information is provisional and subject to change.
Consult the Router documentation before attempting any changes to the Router configuration.
Check for any existing port users before proceeding.
Port forwarding
Port forwarding is a technique for directing requests from the internet (WAN) to a particular device on the local area network (LAN) side of the (ADSL) router. this means that a number of meters with individual IP addresses on the Local Area Network can be accessed from the internet with a url similar to http://123.456.789.1:8080 where 8080 is the port number. the CubeIP supports the following port numbers.

Data Logging Suggestions
Any Modbusi register can be logged as any one of the 20 datalog channels provided. The particular registers you chose will depend upon your application and your objectives. The relevance of each parameter to that application will change as the project progresses and points of interest are discovered and optimised. If the Meter is being used to profile energy usage, for example, then the kwh readings alone may suffice. These energy totals each require two datalog channel for the full measurement resolution to be realised.
CubeIP - Windows XP FTP server
CubeIP - Windows XP FTP server
Windows XP Professional includes Internet Information Services (IIS) with
an FTP server which is suitable for receiving files automatically sent by the
CubeIP. The following note from Microsoft explains how to install IIS if it
was not installed with the original installation.
How to install IIS

Later versions of XP may automatically configure the SNTP server so it is always worthwhile data logging with the CubeIP before changing any settings on the PC.In order to confirm that the sntp service is running on the PC to be used as the time server.
From the DOS command prompt enter:
w32tm /register net start w32time
The first command adds the required entries in the Registry.
The second command starts the timeserver service.
The precise date and time the CubeIP uses for the data log timestamps is acquired from a SNTP servers. The CubeIP uses the the NTP pool which is a dynamic collection of networked computers that volunteer to provide highly accurate time via the Network Time Protocol to clients worldwide. The machines that are "in the pool" are part of the pool.ntp.org domain. More than 1300 time servers provide time to some six million systems around the world.

Data Logging
An area of internal Flash memory is dedicated to recording selected meter readings. Up to 20 parameters in each time stamped record. The precise date and time used for the timestamps is acquired from an SNTP server using the internet. Each time stamped record contains up to 20 individual measurements read by the meter.
Records are regularly sent to an ftp server on the network where they can be accessed to provide comprehensive reports. If the ftp server is unreachable for any reason then any data not yet sent will be included in the next successful transmission. This ensures that a complete record is maintained on the ftp server. Two intervals can be independently configured using a standard web browser. The time between records held in the internal flash memory is set in the log interval. The interval between ftp transmissions is set as the ftp interval. A log interval of 900 seconds with an ftp interval of 3600 seconds would send one file every hour containing, on average, four data records.
