Data Logging Suggestions
Any Modbusi register can be logged as any one of the 20 datalog channels provided. The particular registers you chose will depend upon your application and your objectives. The relevance of each parameter to that application will change as the project progresses and points of interest are discovered and optimised. If the Meter is being used to profile energy usage, for example, then the kwh readings alone may suffice. These energy totals each require two datalog channel for the full measurement resolution to be realised.
The new Digital Inputs available on versions of the Cube 400 can be wired to count pulses from modern water and gas meters to show water and gas consumption profiles. Electricity, water and gas profiles can then be analysed together to produce an all encompasing report.
The table below demonstrates how the data log table may be poulated to record key energy values for a three phase supply. Channels 16 to 20 are designated as scale factor channels so that the correct scales may be applied to the compact integer values being logged. ( As channel 18 is not required in this instance it could be replaced with 7691, Phase 1 volts, to fully utilise the set.)
The term Demand can loosely be interpreted as meaning average. The demand period must be set up in the Setup.html page to be the same as the datalog period. This ensures that the average value is calculated for exactly the same time interval as the time between data is logs. If demand values are not chosen then instantaneous values will be used and they will not be representative of the value throughout the log interval.
The flexibility that the data log table provides is one of the strengths of
the meter, used carefully, the benefits of a comprehensive report can be produced
for any situation.
