Fish tank monitor

Fish Tank Monitor

The NC300 monitors conditions in the fish tank and controls a supplementary heater to maintain the water temperature under all conditions.

Lighting Level Control

Lighting Level

The test cell is subject to diurnal and seasonal light cycles but must always meet minimum light levels. The NC300 controls artificial lighting to make sure that these conditions are met.
This view shows the trending of light levels alongside the required lighting level setpoint. Click on the play button to start the graph trending light levels measured by the NC300.

If you are using IE, Internet Explorer with the Adobe® svgi plugin you can zoom in or out of the graph by using CTRL or CTRL-Shift with the mouse. You can reposition the graph by using they Alt key and the mouse. Moving the mouse pointer over a data point will cause a tooltip to appear showing the actual value plotted at that point. This is in addition to the Graph Page settings provided in the normal graph tab.

Computer Room Temperatures

Temperature Monitor and Alarm

The NC300 is monitoring the temperature of the computer room and generates a local alarm to warn of any problems. If the condition does not improve a second alarm is used to start an emergency action.

Demonstrations

Product demonstrations on-line

Not just an interactive demonstration but connected to real product.

Real-time on-line product demonstration. These are links to real product running 24x7 in typical product applications. You can check out features and relate them to your application. You may be asked to log in. We have automated the logon to make it as straightforward as possible. This has proved neccessary to reduce abuse of the demonstration facility.

Changing standard web pages?

How do I change the standard web browser pages?

The master copies of all the web pages served up by the embedded web server are securely stored in non-volatile flash memory and cannot be changed by the user.

An EEPROM, Electrically Eraseable Programmable Read Only Memory, or flash memory is provided to store additional custom designed web pages. These may be as simple as a company logo to head a page or as complex as fully animated interactive SCADA pages. The 32K x 8 (256Kbit) EEPROM can hold a substantial number of pages but there is a performance trade off between individually large pages and response times.

Modbus addressing

How do I know what modbusi address to use?

Point your browser to http://example.com/modbus.html to see a full list of available addreses. (Where example.com is the module web address.)

Floating point IEEE values can be displayed by taking the normal address, multiplying by 2, and adding 8000 hex (32768 decimal). For example, the process variable (measured input value) can be seen as a signed integer at address 0001h and as a floating point value at 32770 or 8002h.
The IEE value is automatically scaled to the correct resolution.

Using with SCADA systems

Can I use the NC300 with a Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) system?

The NC300 uses Modbusi TCP/IP to work effectively with common SCADA systems. This well established protocol provides simple and reliable communications over a standard network connection.

Several systems may communicate with one NC300. The network protocols ensure that there is not a conflict of traffic but it is up to the user to ensure that conflicting instructions are not given to one NC300.

Modbus addresses can be seen by adding modbus.html to the url.

What are Custom Pages?

What are Custom Pages?

A custom html page can be written in a standard editor and the file loaded into the web server's internal non-volatile EEPROM memory. This page is then displayed when the url follower by a / and the file name is entered in the browser address field. If the new file name is the same as an existing default filename then the new file in EEPROM will be displayed and the default file ignored. Uploading a file of zero length effectively deletes the EEPROM file and the web server reverts to the original file.
Index.html is special in that it is displayed if the url and no filename is entered. If a faulty index.html file is uploaded then unpredictable results will be seen in the browser. Other named files can be still be displayed by adding their filename to the url.

Which internet browsers can I use?

Which internet browsers can I use?

802automation products are designed to use standard internet PC web browsers.

They have been extensively tested with Mozilla 1.7, Firefox 1.5/2.0 and IE6. Javascript needs to be enabled for automatic, real time, updating of the status display which use AJAXi technology.

Firefox 2.0 includes an embedded svgi viewer and will display the full set of graphing, trending and animated graphics from the web server.
